Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
-
WiFi Setup:
- A WiFi router with an active internet connection.
- Your WiFi password (make sure it’s handy).
-
Devices:
- Your smartphone or tablet with the Wondrwall App downloaded and installed.
- Your Amazon account credentials (username and password).
-
Tools:
- A pin, paper clip, or similar object to put the device into pairing mode.
- A card if you're unable to remove the light switch cover by hand.
Pairing the Primary Light Switch
The Primary Light Switch acts as the coordinator device for your Wondrwall network. Follow these steps to pair it:
-
Choose the Right Location:
- Select a light switch that’s centrally located in your home (or within the ‘mesh’ of devices).
-
Identify the Connected Circuits:
- Before you start, note which of the three touch sensors on the front of the light switch controls your lights. It may control none or up to three lighting circuits.
-
Connect to WiFi:
- Connect your phone or tablet to your home WiFi network (preferably 2.4GHz; Wondrwall Light Switches are not compatible with 5GHz networks).
-
Open the Wondrwall App:
- Log in with your Amazon account.
- Press “Configure your own home.”
-
Remove the Light Switch Cover:
- Place your palm on the device, wrap your fingers around the cover, and gently pull either the side of the light switch (either left or right) to unclip the cover.
- If you’re having trouble, use a card (like a credit card) to slide between the cover and the device in one of the top corners and run it down the side of the device until the cover comes off.
-
Press the Functional Button:
- Hold down the functional button until the top three touch sensor LED lights start flashing.
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the app.
-
Connect to the Light Switch:
- The Light Switch will emit its own WiFi signal for you to connect to. The network has no password and the SSID will be formatted 'wondrwall-xxxxxxx'.
- If you’re on Android: The search for the light switch is within the app.
- If you’re on iOS: Navigate to your device’s WiFi settings and connect to the device when it is displayed in the list of local networks. Once connected, return to the Wondrwall App.
- The Light Switch will emit its own WiFi signal for you to connect to. The network has no password and the SSID will be formatted 'wondrwall-xxxxxxx'.
-
Verify Successful Connection:
- The light switch touch sensor LEDs will scan from left to right.
-
Configure Your Home Network:
- The app will display local networks. Select your home network and enter your WiFi password accurately. Incorrect passwords will cause the process to fail.
- The device will reboot at this stage of the process.
-
Specify Home Details and Name Your Device:
- The app will prompt you to specify your home location (used for weather information), house type and name your home.
- Choose an existing or create a new location for your light switch, then name the device.
-
Configure Connected Lights:
- Choose from the following options:
- Not connected (for 2-way lighting)
- Single left (only left-hand button turns on lights)
- Single right (only right-hand button turns on lights)
- Double (left and right buttons turn on lights but not the middle)
- All connected (all buttons turn on lights)
- Choose from the following options:
-
Finish and Update:
- Press “Finish.”
- The light switch will perform an update (indicated by scanning status lights). Wait until it completes before proceeding.
Important: You cannot add another device while the primary light switch is updating.
After Installation: Activate Amazon Alexa on the light switch to remove the two solid lights on the face of the device. See here for more information on using Alexa.
