Using the Sonos Widget

Control your Sonos speakers directly from the Wondrwall App

Introduction

The Sonos Widget lets you bring your Sonos smart speakers into the Wondrwall App, giving you quick access to music and radio alongside your heating, lighting and security. Whether you want background music in the kitchen or to pause all playback when leaving home, the widget keeps your audio control simple and centralised.

How to Access your Heating Overview Screen

Here is an image of the Wondrwall app’s home screen when you are logged into your home. The highlighted box displays your Sonos Widget. This widget shows the The number of active devices and allows you to access your Sonos Overview Screen. Below are the steps to access the Sonos Overview Screen.

Steps:
  1. Open the Wondrwall app. If you are logged into your home system, then you will be auto-directed to the home screen. Here you will see a grid of different widgets, each controlling a different part of your Wondrwall system
  2. Tap the Sonos Widget on the Wondrwall app homepage
  3. You will now see your Sonos Overview Screen

Note: Some of the widgets on the Wondrwall home screen may be greyed out. This means you do not currently have any of the associated Wondrwall devices paired.

FAQs

Do I need the Sonos App to use the widget?
Yes. Your Sonos speakers must first be set up in the official Sonos App before they can appear in Wondrwall. After that, you can use the widget for quick, everyday control.

Can I play music from any source in the Sonos Widget?
You can play what is already active on your Sonos system. Some services (for example Spotify Connect) may not show full track details, and browsing the full library must be done in the Sonos App.

Can I use Alexa or Google Assistant with Sonos through Wondrwall?
Voice assistants connected to Sonos will continue to work independently. Wondrwall gives you app-based control, while Alexa or Google Assistant can still control playback by voice.

Does the Sonos Widget affect sound quality?
No. Wondrwall only passes playback controls to your Sonos system. All audio quality settings (such as EQ) remain managed in the Sonos App.
