This guide provides detailed instructions on how to install the Wondrwall In-home Display. By following these steps, you can ensure a safe and secure installation.
Before you begin, identify a suitable location for installing the In-home Display, it should be clear of wall studs and have enough clearance inside the wall so the device and the power converter can be installed.
We recommend positioning the horizontal centre line of the mount between 1.2-1.4m from ground level.
Tools/Equipment Needed
You will need the following tools and equipment:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Pencil
- Drill & 5mm Drill Bit
- Hammer
- Philips Screw Driver
- Small Level
- Drywall Saw or a cutting tool
- Template
Attaching the Template
- Attach the provided cut-out template to the wall, orientated in portrait, using masking or painter’s tape.
- Ensure that the template is perfectly level – an unlevel template will result in the mount not being level.
- Place tape on each edge of the template – top, bottom, left and right – being sure not to cover any of the template cutouts.
- Verify that there are no studs, electrical wires or pipes behind where you’ll be installing the mount – or anything that could interfere with the installation of the mount.
- Using a pencil, mark the screw holes in the four corners of the mounting template and then trace along the template cut-out line.
NOTE: The cut line is the inner rectangle – not the outer perimeter of the mount template.
Cutting the Drywall
- First, using a 5mm drill bit, carefully drill the holes for the mounting screws. This will prevent the drill from splitting the drywall.
- Be careful to drill in the direct centre of the marked hole locations, as being off-centre can cause the mount to be out of level.
- Before cutting out the rectangle, insert the included wall anchors and lightly tap with a hammer until they are seated in the holes and flush with the wall surface.
- Cut out the rectangular hole keeping the saw on the pencil line.
- Test fit the mount to ensure it lays flush against the wall and that the holes in the mount line up with the wall anchors you installed earlier. If necessary, carefully shave the edge of the drywall until the mount installs easily and is flush with the wall.
CAUTION: Do not cut or shave too close to the wall anchors.
Installing the Power Converter
- Attach the power converter to the back of the mount using the enclosed flat-head screws.
- Install each screw through the tablet side of the mount and into the power converter – being careful not to over-tighten.
- The red and black wires of the power converter should face up towards the spacer and mount.
- Connect the red and black wires of the slim charging cable to the positive (red) and negative (black) wires of the power converter using the supplied wire nuts.
- The black (240V) and white (Neutral) wires of the converter should now be extended out the bottom ready for connection with the AC mains power circuit.
CAUTION: Connecting the converter involves working with AC mains power and should be completed by a qualified electrician in compliance with the local electrical code.
Attaching the Mount to the Wall
- With the power pod now attached to the back of the flush mount, insert the flush mount into the wall opening you cut out earlier and ensure the 4 mounting holes in the corners of the flush mount align with the wall anchors you installed earlier.
- Using the included screws secure the flush mount to the wall being sure not to over-tighten. The mount should be attached securely, and without being deformed from one or more screws being overtightened.
Installing the Tablet
- Insert the slim charging cable and then insert the tablet into the mount charging side first.
- While holding the tablet secure in the mount with one hand, attach the trim bezel to the mount securing the tablet in place. The trim bezel uses magnets to keep the tablet secure.
- Check the device is charging.
The device is now installed.
CAUTION: If you plan to install the Wondrwall In-Home Display in a high-traffic area where there is a risk of the device being knocked or bumped, we strongly recommend taking extra precautions to secure the front cover as it may be susceptible to accidental displacement or damage.
To prevent this, consider using additional securing methods such as adhesive strips or double-sided tape to firmly attach the front cover to the mount.
