If you suspect that your home’s energy system is underperforming, there are several checks you can carry out to identify and address any issues. Here are some common problems and steps to troubleshoot them:
Low PV generation
- When monitoring your home’s energy generation, if you consistently notice very low metrics (less than 0.5 kWh) or zero output while observing the energy widget in the app, follow these routine tests:
- Check the RCD Isolator for the Solar PV: Ensure that the RCD isolator switch for the solar PV system is in the “on” position. Sometimes, leaks (such as water getting into the circuit between the panels and the inverter) can cause the DC isolator for the Solar PV to trip and disconnect the current from the solar panels. If this happens, simply switch the isolator back to the “on” position.
Battery not charging
- If the battery is not charging, start by checking the battery’s light status:
- Red Leaf Indicator or No Lights: First, make sure the battery is turned on. Locate the power button for the battery on the side of the unit and make sure the unit is ON.
- If the LED indicators still show a red leaf or no lights, contact our technical support team for further assistance.
Inverter warning light/display screen error
- Sometimes, an inverter may display a warning light or an error message on the screen:
1. Turn Off the Battery: Use the battery on/off switch located on the side of the unit to turn off the battery.
2. Turn Off the DC Isolator for the Solar PV: Locate the DC isolator switch for the solar PV system and turn it off.
3. Turn Off the AC Isolator for the Inverter: Locate the AC isolator switch for the inverter and turn it off.
- Turn On the Inverter
To turn the inverter back on, follow the previous steps in the reverse order stated below:
1. Turn On the AC Isolator for the Inverter: Locate the AC isolator switch for the inverter and turn it on.
2. Turn On the DC Isolator for the Solar PV: Locate the DC isolator switch for the solar PV system and turn it on.
3. Turn On the Battery: Use the battery on/off switch located on the side of the unit to turn on the battery.
Inverter displaying as offline
If the energy widget is greyed out and the inverter is displaying as offline please read our article How do I connect my inverter to the app? on how to reconnect the inverter to the internet.
